Thimphu Sightseeing:

Memorial Chorten
- An iconic Tibetan-style Buddhist structure built in 1974.
- Dedicated to the third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
- Features golden spires, bells, and richly carved annexes.
- Houses intricate mandalas, tantric statues, and religious paintings.
- It does not contain the king's remains, only his photograph in ceremonial attire.
- Built to represent ‘the mind of the Buddha’.

Tashichho Dzong
- Known as the ‘Fortress of the Dharma Raja’.
- The traditional seat of Bhutan’s civil government.
- Rebuilt multiple times due to fire and earthquake damage.
- Redesigned in 1952 by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck without nails or written plans.
